The Mobility Plan provides excellent suggestions and we should fully implement it.
I’m a strong advocate for increased funding for parkland acquisition so we can reach the national goal of a 10-minute walk to a park for all citizens.
Land is becoming more expensive every day and the time to acquire green space is now.

For years I have advocated for providing more transportation options to Denton residents by improving the safety, usability, and availability of options like public transportation, biking, and walking. Roughly 20%-30% of residents cannot drive due to age, disability, finances, or legal reasons. These neighbors also need transportation.
I support a balanced approach that makes these transportation options safer and more accessible. This includes mixed-use development that reduces the distance between homes and daily essentials, so they’re easier to access by bicycle, on foot or by wheelchair, or by public transportation. Closer proximity also reduces infrastructure costs and public transit costs by reducing the length of infrastructure and bus lines.
To ensure strategic, impactful, and fair investment in sidewalks and bicycle infrastructure, I support the development of a set of criteria to prioritize which projects to prioritize and fund next. The city already created this with its Sidewalk Work Plan. I am advocating for the development of a similar work plan for bicycle infrastructure so the city understands how much funding to focus on upcoming projects.

As discussed, our updated mobility plan will help with this lack of connectivity. We must continue to research and secure grants that can help us add bike lanes, connect walking trails, and add traffic calming.
