P&Z Public Hearing Postponed by Developer
North Lakes Preservation Group learned yesterday that Investcor has formally requested a postponement of the P&Z public hearing originally scheduled for August 28th.
Incidentally, this request occurred following NLP Group’s hand-delivery of opposition letters on Wednesday from property owners representing 23.8% of the area within 200ft of the property line of the proposed project. With opposition of more than 20% of the perimeter, Investcor’s development project now needs a supermajority vote (5 out of 7 ‘yes’ votes from City Council members) to obtain the specific use permit (SUP) it would need to build a 240-unit multi-family apartment complex on the land.
Thanks to the community solidarity in opposition to S22-0010, Investcor’s path to acquiring the SUP will be quite difficult. Hence, the delay. Investcor asked Kirkman Engineering to hold another neighborhood meeting to “further engage the community” regarding our concerns. Kirkman is charged with scheduling the meeting and notifying the community.
If you attended and left your contact information at the most recent neighborhood meeting hosted by the developer and Kirkman Engineering on July 29th, you should receive an email from Angie Manglaris, the City of Denton project manager for Project S22-0010.
